If elected to serve on the Sycamore Board of Education, the following will be my
priorities:

It's all in the ABC's...Academic Achievement...Budgets...Communication

1. Maintaining ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT while guiding
the future of Sycamore.

It is essential that Sycamore continue its Excellent Rating.  Each child deserves the
opportunity to develop to their full potential.

We must focus on excellence in teaching and learning.  We need to engage members of
our business community to identify areas where students need additional skills and
abilities to succeed.

Programming decisions need to be based on sound research, with accountability for
results.

2. Managing BUDGETS AND ADDRESSING FINANCIAL CHALLENGES with
fiscal responsibility.

Our goals and requirements for the children of our school are big, but financial
resources are limited and have to be used effectively to maintain the trust of our
taxpayers. It is imperative that we regularly report on the status of future funding
requirements, changes in legislation and results of financial performance.

We must continually seek ways to be more efficient with taxpayer dollars, and provide
top value for the investment made in our schools and its children.

3. Improving COMMUNICATION with parents, staff, administration, businesses and
taxpayers
emphasising strong community involvement.

If elected I pledge to be available to those I serve by regularly attending PTO meetings,
school events, and community meetings.  I promise to respond promptly to calls, letters
and emails.

The community
MUST be well informed about district finances. Updates should be
presented in clear, easily understood terms...we want NO surprises.  This could be as
simple as regularly including articles by the Superintendent and Treasurer in local
papers and school publications.
